Our research is about driving innovation, changing outcomes and saving lives.
Since 2007, we have been investing in tomorrow’s solution by working with innovators, entrepreneurs and startups by promoting partnerships, providing seed-funding and giving guidance on how to accelerate epilepsy products onto the marketplace. We believe in delivering solutions in a timeframe that matters – and we are making an impact.
Inspired by the TV show, Shark Tank, we host an annual competition where entrepreneurs pitch products, technologies or therapeutic concepts, all of which must benefit people with epilepsy, to a panel of judges. Learn more at www.epilepsy.com/sharktank.
We work with healthcare teams at epilepsy centers, community-based service providers, researchers, people impacted by epilepsy and their family to transform the way that we do healthcare. Our vision is for all people with epilepsy to live their highest quality of life, striving for freedom from seizures and side effects and we won’t stop until we get there.
The ELHS network is designed to gather data about people with epilepsy from clinics around the country and analyze it centrally to identify practices that lead to better outcomes. Ten pioneer hospitals, accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), have committed to the ELHS and work with us to build a new system of healthcare for epilepsy. People with epilepsy are at higher risk of early death than the general population. Sadly, one of the leading causes of early death in epilepsy, called SUDEP, or sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, has been making a lot of headlines. Through the SUDEP Institute we sponsor a SUDEP Biomarker Challenge which challenges researchers to find predictive biomarkers to identify people at risk for SUDEP or life-threatening seizures that compromise cardiac or respiratory functions.
